Is this called "Kanthalh Malar" in Tamizh.
I think this is National Flower of Tamil Eelam. (LTTE)

காந்தள் மலர் (Gloriosa superba) is the national flower of LTTE! Kaarthikai Kizhangu (கார்த்திகை கிழங்கு) is one of the vernacular name for it. this plant is used in Siddha medicine.
